This seems to have been quite a project. Interested in knowing about availability of Mantas, originals vs kit cars, your experience with putting the big block engine in the car and which transaxle handles the increased power best without problems.

I love the car. My dad and I built one when I was a senior in high school 1984/85. Young and stupid I sold it. I wish I hadn’t. It is great to see one in great condition.

I recently had the opportunity to see an original proto type Manta Montage, I was told that it is one of only eigth produced before a spat between Porsche & Volkswagen stopped production. I was wondering if you might have any information about this. Yhe car is not for sale and is in original condition, needs restoring. It hasn’t been driven or started in years.Any info. would be appreciated.

I’m writing from Italy, I’m in love for this car and my dream is to buy one, restor it like you have done, and after hve the possibility to use the car like everydays car, but I’ve a big problem, where I can find a Manta montage? some times ago I foud one on E-bay motor but I’ve never receive saler’s replay, can you give me some information relevant where I can buy a manta montage? or if you know someonethat have and whant to sale it?
I hope that you can help me, but also if it’s not I would like to compliment you for the fantastic restoratione that you have done.

WOW! this is the exact same setup I had in mind! my mom got my montage for me three years ago, and i just have started workin on it. I just turned 19 and I waited til after high school to start on it. the only thing different that i was planning was a corvette front suspension, but I like your way, and it seems more cost efficient. The only problem I have is: the frame. The car came on a VW beetle chassis, and i have to take the body off to measure and whatnot. Question for you, from your personal experience, how difficult was the custom tubular frame to build? It probably seems like an amature question, but this is my first kit car build. Any tips or pointers would be greatly appreiciated. Thanks and awesome build!!

nice job!
Me too I`m converting my Manta into a V8 Montage. I use a 350 Chevy comletly restored (you can see the first starting on youtube typing CHEVY 350 COYOTE X).
I connected it with a Audi 01E gearbox (4WD converted in 2WD) and I have a complete 3D design of the car, if you send me your email I`ll post pics of the design and the status of art. Space frame is going to be made myself in stainless steel, front axle taken from a BMW 525 deeply modified and all the ather parts are mad by cutting and welding.
